Biography
I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2020. I continued my education into UConn’s DPT program shortly after my undergraduate degree. My interest in healthcare began in high school after volunteering at several facilities and clinics. At that time, I observed many different practices including oncology, psychology, nursing, and physical therapy. While volunteering at a physical therapy clinic, I experienced state of art care that was tailored to each individual patient. I quickly began exploring the field of physical therapy. I discovered meaningful and purposeful care being delivered to highly involved patients with Neuro degenerative diseases. This area of PT peaked my interest as I personally assisted many close friends with neurological conditions. My participation in the Neuro SIG has gave me opportunities to analyze different treatment models to effectively treat patients with neurological conditions.
My current research as a student DPT has been investigating the ethical and cultural differences for exercise in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. My collaboration with highly skilled and proficient Neuro PTs has been exceptional in increasing awareness, knowledge, and education on PD. As Co- director at UConn’s Pro Bono clinic, it was essential to form strong relationships with community members in order to promote continuing educational opportunities. I plan to attend a neurological residency with the objective to explore the impact of exercise and physical therapy management of individuals with ALS.
