About
I am an undergraduate student majoring in Physiology and Neurobiology. I was drawn to the Movement for Life lab after learning about the mechanism of Parkinson’s Disease in the brain and the resulting neurological effects. Reading Dr. Colón Semenza’s research on implementing motivation and peer coaching strategies to engage participants in physical activity further sparked my interest to join the lab.
During my time here, I have learned so much about the impact of Parkinson’s Disease on the everyday lives of individuals and have seen firsthand the role of exercise in improving their strength and movement. The invaluable opportunity to interact with people with Parkinson’s Disease and hear about their experiences with physical therapy and rehabilitation greatly strengthened my decision to pursue a career in healthcare. As I continue in the lab, I hope to explore and better understand exercise interventions that contribute to improving the quality of life of individuals with Parkinson’s Disease.
